Bob Withington Bob Withington served on the Crystal Mountain Board of Directors from 1969 to 1984 — five, three year terms. Since the area opened in 1962, the Withington family of Bob, Betsy and four children spent
most weekends at Crystal. Soon the Crystal Mountain Athletic Club (CMAC) was formed and Betsy began a long career as a ski racing official. In 1969 Bob was asked to join the board as the area was rapidly expanding. He invested many hours on snow cat and skis exploring the area in search of terrain for trails and ski runs. He was an active participant in all aspects of the area's expansion during his
15 years on the board — from "brush clearing" to financing arrangements and the construction of new buildings to meet increasing skier visits to Crystal. |
